Two companies in EYElliance’s Inclusive Optical Scale Out Programme, Lapaire Cote d’Ivoire and Med-Optics Vision Centre Uganda, rank among Africa’s fastest growing companies according to the Financial Times' "Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies 2024" report. We at EYElliance have for a long time known that the new impact sector of inclusive optical is ripe for rapid growth and it is a proud moment to see others recognise the potential of the sector.

The Financial Times recently published this list of 125 businesses, many of which have overcome the Covid pandemic and the continent’s economic problems to show impressive growth. According to Ft.com "Economic growth in Africa, overall, in 2023 was 3.2 per cent, according to the IMF."
Lapaire Cote d'Ivoire was ranked 14th on the list and Ugandan, Med-Optics Vision Centre was ranked 125th. Jerome Lapaire, Founder and CEO of Lapaire and Anguyo Dralega, Owner and Executive Director of Med-Optics Vision Centre are both graduates of the EYElliance Inclusive Optical Scale Out Programme, a technical assistance and investment facilitation program that aims to de-risk new market entry enabling optical entrepreneurs to tap into the underserved low- and middle-income eyeglasses market.
